Your initial visit is mandatory before your procedure, giving our oral surgeons the opportunity to diagnose your case and create a treatment plan. During your consultation, we will discuss things like potential medications, physical conditions and instructions regarding your treatment. Sometimes, surgery can be performed the very same day. However, more complex treatment plans and medical histories require a second appointment and evaluation.
Note that patients under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
You are required to bring:
- A surgical referral slip.
- Any potential X-rays. (You can request your dentist or physician to forward them to us. However, if there is not enough time, you will need to pick them up and bring them yourself.)
- A list of current medications you are taking.
- Any necessary dental insurance forms, which will allow us to help you process claims faster.
A preoperative consultation and physical examination is required for patients undergoing IV anesthesia. Please do not eat or drink anything eight hours prior to your surgical procedure. You will also need someone to accompany you and drive you home.
Please contact Southern California Center for Oral & Facial Surgery at 818-996-1200 to let Dr. Jay Reznick or Dr. Sirish Makan know of any medical conditions (such as diabetes or high blood pressure) or any medications you are currently taking. We hope to see you soon for your oral or facial surgery procedure with us in Tarzana, California.
